We had a fantastic meal last night, the nibbles of pork scratching's with apple sauce where still hot when they arrived at the table, the main meals where cooked to perfection and arrived promptly and beautifully presented and the sweets were of a nice size and tasted fantastic. The young lady behind the bar was very efficient, friendly and very helpful. All this in a warm and friendly pub with atmosphere and a roaring log fire. We have eaten at the Red Cow a few times and hope to eat many more times in the future...

What a lovely find. We wanted somewhere near Duxford as a last minute getaway for a night. Found The Red Cow on Google maps and booked it not expecting very much. Once we arrived, the man who checked us in automatically upgraded us to a better room just because it was empty. We were shown to our room by a very helpful lady who explained the shower controls (they are not where you would expect them to be!) and asked if the room was the right temperature. The room was immaculate and very cosy and warm particularly as it was bitterly cold outside. We quickly made our way back to the main bar with its open fire and pre ordered breakfast for the next morning. The bar became very busy in the evening which was lovely to see. Dogs were allowed which was nice. We had booked a table for dinner and the small restaurant area was busy We ordered the mushrooms and chicken wings for starters and teriyaki chicken noodles for the main course, all of which were lovely and plentiful. We headed back to our room and had a lovely night's sleep in a very comparable bed. The breakfast the next morning was cooked perfectly and the welcome was very sincere when we walked in. I would not hesitate to recommend this little gem and will definitely return.

My first visit to this lovely country pub, it was my wife's birthday so we wanted somewhere a little special. This was certainly that. We live only a few miles away from the pub so we didn't avail ourselves of the accommodation. A beautiful old building, the atmosphere was very welcoming, the staff excellent and accommodating. Also a dog friendly pub so my daughter was able to bring her small terrier. It was quite busy with pre Christmas drinkers, the restaurant not quite full. The food was very nice, well presented and just the right quantity to suit us. A good selection of beers and drinks. I can heartily recommend this pub, we will certainly return.

My wife and i spent 4 night in the area. Using the red Cow as the base for our stay. I can say with all honesty the Red Cow was a wonderful place. Staff were brilliant , very friendly and made us feel welcome. The pub itself was beautiful. It had a mix of locals, residents and a comfortable atmosphere. The meals were first class. Quality and quantity were perfect. We stay in a barn conversion where the rooms were spacious, beautifully furnished and of course perfectly clean. I would stay here anytime and would recommend this as a place to stay.

They hire people, make them work for 1-2 weeks, then don't pay them! They want me to clean something that they can't clean themselves. RUN!

We stopped by this pub for dinner on our way to London, drawn by its quiet village location, away from the hustle and bustle of the main road—a nice spot for a peaceful meal. While the food was delicious when it finally arrived, we were disappointed by the long wait. It took about an hour for our main dishes. The staff were friendly and welcoming, but they seemed slightly disorganized, leading to some confusion. For instance, we had a wrong starter or whilst waiting quite a while for our mains, one staff member (who seemed unaware of the situation) came over and asked if we were ready for dessert, which was a bit amusing. Overall, I wish I could have given a higher rating, but the long wait and confusion left a mark on the experience. However, I’d still recommend giving this pub a try—it's worth a second chance, and I hope the service improves next time.

Difficult to leave a review on open table, though it was good for the reservation. Have had lunch there before, which was good and now supper. Well run, service efficient. Food of an excellent “Gastro pub” standard and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

Now under new ownership (2024) of a small chain with what seems like a common menu across the group. We wish them well, though it's a bit more corporate and not quite as friendly as in the past. Expect to be asked to pay for food upon ordering rather than running a tab (locals excepted, it seems). Perhaps that's a reasonable approach if they've experienced runners. Food prices have crept up a bit. Beer was variable on our visit: the Wherry was off, the Red Cow Ale wasn't great, but the IPA was lovely. There's fish and chips for around £17 and tasty, but the seafood bouillabaisse isn't generous at £22 and needs a side to make for a full meal. But the pub is still a pleasant spot for a meal and drinks, especially combined with a local dog walk (biscuits kindly provided) with many local paths to explore.

Lovely thatched village pub. We booked a table on Monday night, and ordered the fish and chips with crushed peas. Compliments to the chef the fish batter was light and crispy. Hubby had hotdog with chips, both were delicious. Washed down with some lovely cold wine. Will be back for sure when we're up that way.

Well stored beer and fantastic food - lovely rooms with a bath a hi tech shower - water pressure is a thing even on the plateau and as the major infrastructure circumnavigates the uplands, this place is located in a beautiful and quiet idyllic English village.

Lovely rural location - sitting out in the sun. Great food, reasonable prices. The paté, the burger, and the lamb curry were very good, and the service (Chis) was quick, polite, and cheerful.

I cam with my family who travelled from Italy to visit and was not sure which pub to take them too. This place was an Absolutely gorgeous restaurant with picturesque views, delicious food with kind and genuine service. Even the locals were friendly! The area is lovely and on a Saturday night it was peaceful. We would definitely come again if passing pie, the camebert cheese and fish and chips were my favourite. I love the thatched roof too
